On Bank Holiday Monday 4th June Forest of Bere Bowmen held their Team Challenge shoot inviting clubs to enter a team of six archers with different bow types and one lady. A Western round (4doz arrows at 60yds and 4doz at 50yds) was shot with Sway Bowmen coming 3rd team with Bryan Golden (Compound) 838, Jeremy Ingledew (Compound) 794, Trevor Chalk (Recurve) 720, Steve Humphrey (Recurve) 633, Mick Hayman (Recurve) 615and Sandie Baigent (Longbow) 330.
On the weekend of 26th and 27th May Paul Graham and son Philip entered a World Record status 70m and Head to Head Tournament held at Southampton Archery club. Day 1 Paul scored 454 in the 70m round placing him 22nd and reached the quarter finals and placed 8th overall.On Day 2 scored 421 placing him 19th and placed 9th in the Head to Head. Philip scored 434 on day 1 placing him 26th and in the Head to Head placed 17th overall. On day 2 scored 404 placing him 20th and placed joint 17th overall.

Wednesday 23rd May a New Westen (4doz at 100yds and 4doz at 80yds) was shot by Jeremy Ingledew (C) 671 and Chris Stoneham (R) 497. A Long Western (4doz at 80yds and 4doz at 60yds) was shot by Irene Page (BB) 143. A Western (4doz at 60yds and 4doz at 50yds) by Sandie Baigent (LB) 274. A Long National (4doz at 80yds and 2doz at 60yds) by Chris Knight (R) 347 and Ian Fleming (R) 256 and a National (4doz at 60yds and 2doz at 50yds) by Derek Jordan (R) 249 and Tony Silver (LB) 177.
Sunday 27th May a National (4doz at 60yds and 2doz at 50yds) was shot by Ian Fleming (R) 421 and Irene Page (BB) 135. An American (21/2doz at 60yds, 21/2doz at 50yds ad 21/2doz at 40yds) was shot by Bryan Golden (C) 802, Karen Fountaine (R) 586, Tony Silver (LB) 323 and Mick Hayman (LB) 260.
Wednesday 30th May a St George (3doz at 100yds, 3doz at 80yds and 3doz at 60yds) was shot by Jeremy Ingledew (C) 771 and Chris Stoneham (R) 642 an Albion (3doz at 80yds, 3doz at 60yds and 3doz at 50yds) was shot by Yvonne John (R) 566, Derek Jordan (R) 399and Adrian Jones (LB) 331 also a National (4doz 60yds and 2doz at 50yds) by Tony Silver (LB) 250.
Sunday 3rd June a Western (4doz at 60yds and 4doz at 50yds) was shot by Steve Humphrey (R) 668 and a National (4doz at 60yds and 2doz at 50yds) by Tony Silver (LB) 123.
Also on Sunday 3rd June 2 archers attended a Long Western round run by Waterside archery club at Exbury.
(4doz at 80yd and 4doz at 60yds) Bryan Golden (C) 767 and Sandie Baigent (Longbow) 143 placed 3rd Lady Longbow.

Southern Counties Archery Society held their Longbow Day at Winchester Cricket ground on Tues 15th May a Double two way National round (4doz at 60yds and 2doz at 50yds twice) Two Sway Bowmen attended. Sandie Baigent scored 164 and 159 and was awarded the Cecil Rhodes plaque for the highest unawarded lady Longbow also Martin Jones scored 130 for morning only. Very good considering he broke both wrists earlier this year.
On Saturday 19th May Forest of Bere held a Longbow only shoot at Horndean and again Two Sway Bowmen attended on a nice Sunny day. A Western round (4doz at 60yds and 4doz at 50yds) was shot by Sandie Baigent scoring 313 and coming 1st Lady Longbow and Adrian Jones scored 468 coming 3rd Gent Longbow.
On Wed 16th May a Fita 70 (6doz at 70m) was shot at Sway field by Bryan Golden (Compound) 627, Jeremy Ingledew (Compound) 601 and scoring his first 6gold end. Also Chris Stoneham (Recurve) 490, Chris Knight (Recurve) 253, Ian Fleming (Recurve) 230, Irene Page (Barebow) 104 and Adrian Jones (Longbow) 163.

On a cold day in May, 14 archers braved the biting North wind to shoot for the 'Line Cutter Trophy' in memory of Mavis North.
A round of 3 doz @ 40 mtr & 3 doz @ 30mtr was shot, The results are:
Derek Jordan & Ian Fleming tied for 3rd place with 12 line cutters
Mike North & Mal Thomas tied for 2nd place with 14 line cutters
The undisputed winner with an impressive score of 18 was Mick Hayman.

Sway Bowmen were asked to man the archery ranges at Calshot Activities Centre during their open day on Sunday 15th April. We had both ranges running flat out all day long. In total there were some 450 people of all ages who tried their hand at the sport. The queue was 40mtrs long for most of the time and people waited patiently for up to 40 minutes to take their turn.
