Results from Christmas Pudding Shoot

Details
Published: 28 November 2012

On Sunday 25th November, four members of Sway Bowmen (Charlotte Warne, Howard Jasper, Kyle Jasper and Adam Hackett) traveled to Whitehill Archers for their 7th Annual Christmas Pudding shoot where we shot a St. Nicholas round - four dozen at 40 yards and then three dozen at 30 yards.

The day started off with bright sunshine and clear skies (a pleasant change to yesterday) which held up until around midday when we broke for lunch and the rain started.

At this point, the targets were moved down to 30 yards and each archer then shot a single arrow at 30 yards for the "Best Gold" competition which was won by our very own Kyle Jasper.

After the break for lunch, the rain stopped for us to complete our shooting at 30 yards more or less in the dry, with just the odd, light shower.

The rain didn't however hold off for the awards where Sway managed to bag two golds with Charlotte taking 1st place for ladies recurve and Kyle taking 1st for junior gents recurve.

The final results for Sway participants are:

Charlotte Warne: 669 with 83 hits, 1 miss and 48 golds
Adam Hackett: 660 with 84 hits, no misses and 45 golds
Howard Jasper: 572 with 84 hits, no misses and 25 golds
Kyle Jasper: 463 with 81 hits, 3 misses and 16 golds

community chestLast week Simon appeared on Radio Solent's Katie Martin show to put forward our case for funding from the 'Community Chest' to improve access to the club house for disabled members. On Friday the adjudicator Chrissie Pollard made the awards and Sway Bowmen were awarded £300.

A great big thank you to BBC Radio Solent and the Community Chest and well done to Simon for putting our case so eloquently.

community chestSimon did a very good job of presenting our case on Radio Solent this afternoon for funding from the BBC Radio Solent Community Chest scheme.

What is the Community Chest?

The 'Community Chest' is the name for a series of radio items that focus on, and assist, a campaign by some charitable trusts to give grants to support community activities. Activities will be funded across the BBC Radio Solent region (the southern parts of Hampshire and Dorset plus the whole of the Isle of Wight).

The Project is very keen to support grass-roots activity especially in areas which often miss out on funding of this nature.

Listen in on Friday to see if we have been successful.

Well done Simon.
