Our Thanks to Kirstyn Pragnell (Lady Paramount), Gill Millward (Judge), Karen Fountaine (Field Captain). All the
members of Sway Bowmen who worked so hard throughout theday in the Refreshment tent, on the Tombola and on the Field Crew.
But most of all, thanks to all the archers who made the day so enoyable.
Next year the 26 th Mushroom shoot will be held on 17 th August 2014

On Sunday 30th June, nine archers from Sway Bowmen travelled to take part in the Bowmen of Lytchett’s Annual Owl Shoot in Dorset.
The conditions for the day were bright sunshine with a slightly blustery breeze at the shooting line and a continuous breeze at the targets. This made conditions somewhat difficult at both ends with archers having to counter the breeze on the shooting line by leaning into it only to find it then dropped and they had to then regain their balance and continue the shot.
The round shot by all was a Western consisting of four dozen at 60 yards followed by four dozen at 50 yards.
Shooting in the Ladies Longbow category, Sandie Baigent scored 289 taking first place and winning an Owl trophy and gold medal. In the Gents Longbow category, Sway took first and second places with Adrian Jones scoring 446 to win another Owl trophy and gold medal and Mick Hayman scoring 401 to win a silver medal.
Charlotte Warne shot in the Ladies Barebow category and her score of 495 secured her second place and the silver medal.
Kyle Jasper scored 198 shooting in the Junior Gents Barebow category which earned him second place and a silver medal.
Greg Jasper shot in the Gents Barebow category scoring 495 points – placing him 4th out of 7 – just 11 points shy of taking 3rd place.
Shooting in the Gents Recurve category, but not claiming any medals were Adam Hackett who scored 629 to place him 28th out of 62 and Howard Jasper who scored 611 to place him 33rd out of 62.
Bryan Golden scored 814 in the Gents Compound category, placing him 5th out of 11 and leaving him just 9 points shy of taking 3rd place.
In addition to the above individual scores, Sway’s Longbow team consisting of Adrian, Mick and Sandie took first place in the Longbow team awards – over 60 points ahead of second place.
And finally, Charlotte and Adam took second place and Silver medals for the mixed pairs Recurve team.
As always, a great day was had by all – especially given the welcome addition of the sunshine!

There was a good turnout for this years White Rose Shoot with 36 archers taking part on a beautiful summers day.
