Sway bowmen’s annual Chapatti shoot on 27th December was blessed with fine weather. 19 archers competed in a Frostbite round which comprises 3 dozen arrows shot at a target at 30 metres on an 80cm target face. The proceedings were helped along by the provision of mulled wine and nibbles. A side competition, which entailed shooting a small ‘Rudolph’ drawn on each target, proved popular as the reward for hitting the unfortunate reindeer was a chocolate cup cake (Mini-Chapatti)
The main competition was won by Chris Baigent who won the chocolate Chapatti cake destined to be shared with his family.
While some Archers stayed on and relaxed just enjoying the fresh air and good company, a number of others went on to shoot a further three dozen arrows at 20 metres to bump their Frostbite Round up to a Short Metric III. There were many comments about ‘working off the Christmas Pudding’ and ‘blowing away the cobwebs’ before all trouping happily home to get warmed up.
A great occasion as always and chance for at least one young archer to get to grips with a shiny compound bow that Santa had just delivered.
Here are the scores in order of merit.
